How To Deep Clean Your House in 1 Week [Free Printable]

I want to give you the best house deep cleaning routine you will ever find on the internet.

It's such a bold claim but that's what I hope to achieve today.

This is a checklist I use for my own home and I want you to have it! You can adjust to suit your own space.

When my home hasn’t been deep cleaned in a while, I can literally feel it in my body. I'm sure you understand what I mean. It’s just a feeling I can’t shake.

A deep clean doesn't just freshen things up, it can literally lift a weight off your shoulders. Unfortunately, with our busy schedule, work, and small children sometimes a quick clean is all you can really manage.

That’s why I wrote this post.

If you are a busy babe or mum, this free printable deep clean checklist will give you an ACTUAL PLAN to tackle the tasks you have been neglecting for so long.

Complete House Deep Cleaning Schedule

How It Works:

  • 5 zones, 7 days: Inspired by Flylady's system, we tackle one zone each day. Too much? Take it slow and spread it over a month just like Flylady suggests.
  • 1-2 hour bursts/ 15-20 minute sprints: If you want to get it done in a week, dedicate 1-2 hours of cleaning everyday for a week. If you spread it over a month, that's 15-20 minutes of focused cleaning daily.
  • Pick your path: Start wherever you feel motivated! Tackle the living room before the bathroom, or vice versa – it's up to you. Also decide if you will tackle this in one week or 1 month.
  • Customise: Everyone's home is unique so feel free to create zones that work for your specific home.

The Zones:

  • Zone 1: Entrance, Front Porch, and Dining Room
  • Zone 2: The Kitchen
  • Zone 3: Bathroom and an Extra Room
  • Zone 4: The Master Bedroom
  • Zone 5: The Living Room

We technically have about 5 weeks in one month so this works out perfectly.

When customising the zones, choose areas of the house that don't take as long to clean in Zones 1 and 5.

If this is confusing, read this post first.

Time Saving Cleaning Tips

  1. Gather your cleaning supplies all at once. This will help you avoid having to run back and forth for more cleaning products or towels. You can create a cleaning caddy for each floor or area of your house.
  2. Declutter first before cleaning. As the Fly Lady always says, you can't clean clutter. Save yourself time by doing a declutter challenge first.
  3. Work from top to bottom. This will help prevent dirt and dust from settling on surfaces that you have already cleaned.
  4. Don't be afraid to skip some tasks. If you're short on time, you can skip some of the less important tasks, such as adding your seasonal decorative touches.
  5. Invest in a cordless vacuum cleaner. It makes the job of moving and cleaning so much easier.
  6. Hire deep cleaning services. Deep cleaning a whole house is actually a ton of work. There's no shame in hiring someone to do all the work for you. Simply print out this schedule for them to follow.
  7. Clean regularly. Deep cleaning should not be reserved for special times, follow a regular cleaning schedule for your home.

Conclusion

Creating and executing a deep cleaning for your home or flat is not a small job.

What you have done or are attempting to do is a pretty big deal!

If you already completed this weekly cleaning schedule, you should be so proud of yourself!

Till next time.

Remember that a clean home does not happen by accident, it has to be done on purpose.

If you are in the mood for more cleaning, then I have a ton of house cleaning schedules for you to explore.
