I am so inspired to show you how to start a youtube channel on a budget. There is so much great content out there today and it can feel a little overwhelming starting out on Youtube without all the fancy light and equipment you need.

In today’s post, I am going to be taking your hand and walking you through the steps you need to take to make a fabulous Youtube video on a budget.

I am going to be talking about equipment, recording, workflow,

The last thing you want to do is spend all your savings on starting your channel only to realise that you were not cut out for it.

3 important things for starting a youtube channel on a budget

  1. Gear does not matter. Yes there are tons of you tubers that create very quality content, but your audience determine ur quality. Sometimes the ability to stretch your resources to the max brings out your creativity.
  2. The story/ value of your content  is more important than the quality of the content
  3. Audio and lighting are more important that camera

Must have Gear/ Equipment

  • Phone
  • Selfie stick
  • Laptop (optional)
  • Lapel mic
  • Lighting- Light case, selfie light/ natural light

Step 1

Hold your phone horizontally, if you shoot vertically, you will end up with black bars on the sides of your video.

Step 2

Put your phone on a selfie stick and put the end of the selfie stick

Step 3

Use the back camera. The back camera of most phones are of much better quality

Step 4

Clean your lens. You will not believe the amount of junk we have on our lens that prevent the video quality from being excellent.

Step 5

Looking directly into your lens will help you connect better with your viewers because it is just like looking into someone’s eyes.

Step 6

Remember to lock focus and exposure. This is so when you move your head around, your focus point doesn’t move with it.

Step 7

Increase the exposure by sliding your finger on the screen. This will help brighten the image even more.

PEOPLE GET BORED. As much as you can, add visual interest through different angles or camera pov so that you can keep your audience engaged.

You can also add sounds like “Kaching, pop, oooh sounds”

Getting your channel to 100 might be the hardest but stay persistent and don’t go in thinking you can make money right off the bat. Because you won’t.

I hope I have been able to convince you to start your youtube channel on a budget.

The world wants to hear that unique voice that you have so record that youtube video today.
